Phosphorus pentoxide, the chemical formula P2O5, is produced by burning phosphorus in oxygen. It is a white amorphous powder or hexagonal crystal. It is easy to absorb moisture and sublimates at 360°C. It dissolves in water to generate a lot of heat and generates phosphoric acid. The reaction to ethanol is similar to that of water. The relative density is 2.39, and the melting point is 340°C. It is acidic oxide and corrosive. It should not be directly touched or eaten by hand, or smelled directly. This product is highly corrosive.
